Class Descriptions

Beginners Salsa 1
Learn the fundamentals of Salsa including rhythm & timing, basic steps & leading & following technique. In this progressive series you will learn several great basic combinations that will have you dancing on the dance floor in a heartbeat!


Beginners Salsa 2
Now that you have the basic fundamentals you will continue to learn key leading and following techniques to make you a very proficient dancer. Start learning combinations that will include copa's, open breaks and of course cross body lead combinations. Ladies will be introduced to add styling to spark up the dance floor.

Intermediate Salsa
Now that you've got the basics, lets get cooking! Learn footwork/shines, spinning technique for both leads and follows, styling and of course some really cool partnering that highlights both the leads and follows. Its' time to sizzle on the dance floor. Pre-Requisite: Beginning Salsa 2 series(Twice), 6 months experience or instructor approval) 


NY Style Salsa "On2" aka MAMBO 
This workshop is geared for Salsa dancers that have a solid foundation of Salsa On 1. Learn to find the Tumbao rhythm to help you understand how to dance Salsa On 2. You will focus on rhythm, timing, spinning and learn smooth partnerwork to have fun on the dance floor. Become one with the music as most Salsa On2 dancers have discovered. Join the On2 Revolution in Portland. Pre-Requisite: Solid Salsa On 1 dancer with a minimum 6-8 months of experience or instructor approval. 

Dominican Bachata 
Bachata is the sizzling dance from the Dominican Republic that focuses on true leading and following technique. In this class you will learn Dominican footwork and musicality that will take your Bachata dancing to a new level.  Learn the groovy Dominican basics and become one with bachata. This class is geared for advanced beginner & intermediate bachata dancers.


Modern Bachata
Bachata is a sizzling dance from the Dominican Republic that focuses on true leading and following technique. In the first week we will focus on the rhythm, timing, steps and turns and show you how to make bachata very interesting on the dance floor. Once you have the fundamentals we'll focus on bringing style, musicality and interesting turn combinations to show off on the dance floor. This class is geared for all levels from beginners to advanced.

Workshop Descriptions

Advanced Beginner/Intermediate Technique Intensive
This workshop will focus on the key leading and following techniques that will help you get over that hump that we sometimes experience when trying to get to that next level.  - Leads, learn how to communicate with your follow effectively. In addition you will learn key leading techniques to allow you to transition between moves easily and how to turn your follow to the best of your abilities. Plus you will learn turning and spinning techniques to allow you to make patterns more interesting.
- Follows, learn how to listen to your leads effectively so that you are not anticipating what comes next. Learn key techniques in spinning and following so that you are always prepared for whatever your lead has in mind. 
This is a MUST for everyone wanting to get over that hump of Salsa dancing. Feel comfortable transitioning from Beginner to Intermediate and from Intermediate to Advanced.


Beginner Salsa Bootcamp
In this workshop, you will learn all the fundamentals of Salsa, including rhythm & timing, leading and following technique while learning the 3 basic steps, basic turns and 3-4 beginner partnering combinations. At the end of the class you will have learned enough material to make you feel like going dancing that same night. By taking this class you will also be able to move right into our Beginning Salsa 2 series if you decide to continue taking classes.


Body Movement/Salsa Styling
What distinguishes a good Salsa dancer from a great one? The ability to add that extra movement & styling to the dance. In this exciting workshop you will learn how to add upper body movement and styling to take your dancing to the next level. This class will be taught by Sabor Latino's George Caceres & Leslie Justiniani

Cha Cha Cha Intensive
In this workshop, you will learn all the fundamentals of the very sultry dance known as Cha Cha Cha, including the infectious Cha Cha Cha rhythm & timing, leading and following technique while learning the steps, turns and 3-4 partnering combinations. 

Dominican Bachata Intensive
Come learn the seductive dance from the Dominican Republic - BACHATA! In this 2 hour class, you will learn all the fundamentals of the very sexy BACHATA dance including, rhythm & timing, leading and following technique while learning the basic BACHATA hip movement & steps, basic turns and 3-4 beginner partnering combinations. At the end of the class you will have learned enough material to make you feel like going dancing that same night.

Dominican Bachata Footwork/Musicality
What makes Dominican Bachata so cool? The footwork and musicality! In this workshop you will learn some intricate footwork to play with in your Bachata and become one with the music by learning about the musicality of Bachata. A true Bachata lover's experience! You must have taken the Dominican Bachata Intensive and/or have a basic understanding of Dominican Bachata before taking this class.

Spinning & Turning Technique
As you may or may not know, Salsa dancing incorporates alot of spinning and turning especially for the ladies. This workshop will focus on key spinning and turning technique that will help you elevate your level of dancing on the floor. Learn to use your core to help you spin/turn better. Gentlemen learn the essential techniques to be able to spin/turn your follow smoothly but with clarity. A MUST for anyone wanting to take their spinning and turning to the next level.
